Employee Milestone: How KPG Employee Liz Dywiak is Giving Back to Her Community

As a member of the Kent Pet Group team for over three years, Liz Dywiak is known for excelling at analytical work, but it’s her dedicated work in the Muscatine community that allows her giving personality to shine.

One of the groups Liz volunteers with, through The Jubilee Committee at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Muscatine, is a local branch of a program called Laundry Love, which provides Muscatine residents with time and supplies at local Midtown Laundromat to clean their clothing and bedding once a month at no charge.

Laundry Love

For low-income residents, those without laundry amenities and anyone else who chooses to participate, the program is a blessing. Laundry Love provides free time and supplies to anyone who participates, regardless of his or her reason for joining in. Volunteers are even willing to lend a hand to help fold clothing and are happy to be a friendly face each month for returning patrons.

“The thing that has touched my heart the most and humbled me is truly realizing that we as human beings are all the same once you strip away our social statuses, salaries, education or any other factors that separate so many people in our society,” said Liz. “We all have the same basic needs.”

Recently, Laundry Love has also started to offer a large selection of socks for all ages, after noticing that many of their regular patrons were in need of new socks. Both volunteers and local community members helped to donate socks so that they had enough for any men, women, and children in need.

“If we find ourselves being blessed with more than our basic needs, we should share those blessings with others who are in need. Laundry Love is a simple program but we like to think that we make a big difference in at least one person’s life, once a month,” said Liz.

Laundry Love is held the last Thursday of each month at 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. at MidTown Laundromat in Muscatine.

A Perfect Fit

Liz has been a great fit for the Kent Pet Group team — she is an Iowa native who grew up around the Kent Feed Mill and is a proud parent of a slightly spoiled Jack Russell Beagle mix named Hughie. Liz is a dedicated team member who is committed to growing and giving back.

“The thing that I enjoy most about working at KPG is all of the different people and personalities that make up our company. The diversity that makes up our company is what makes it such a special place to work,” said Liz. “If we all had the same personality or had the same thought process, I truly don’t think our company would have grown and evolved the way it has. We have such an eclectic group that challenges each other to think about and do things differently than we normally would.”

One of Liz’s favorite aspects of her position as an Order Processing Specialist is processing and facilitating donations made by KPG. “I love all animals so the donation part of my job is the most rewarding,” said Liz. “There are so many worthy causes in the world. We can’t help every cause but we do what we can and it is very wonderful to be a part of.”

Thanks Liz, for all that you do!
